General Tab

This section explains the settings available under the General tab in the application's Preferences window. These options control access behaviour, password display, and structural formatting.

🔐 Access and Confirmation

Require Challenge Before Login

Enabling this option activates a GPG-based cryptographic challenge at startup. Here's how it works:

  • The application generates a challenge encrypted with one of the linked GPG keys.
  • The user must select a linked key, decrypt the challenge, and enter the correct response.
  • This ensures that only users with access to a linked key can log in.

Note: Not all GPG keys are automatically linked.

Prompt Before Closing

When enabled, the application will ask for confirmation before closing, helping prevent accidental exits.

Require Double Click to Open Categories

This option requires a double-click to open password categories in the tree view, reducing the chance of accidental expansion.

👁️ Echo Mode

This setting controls what is displayed when prompting for passwords. You can choose from different echo modes (e.g., masked, plain text) depending on your security preferences.

🗂️ Path Separator

Passwords are organized hierarchically and displayed in a tree widget. The path separator defines the character(s) used to build and display these paths.

  • Example: A password path like Work → Email → Gmail uses as the separator.
  • You can customize this character to suit your organizational style.

Prompt on Drag and Drop

When enabled, the application will prompt for confirmation before performing drag-and-drop operations within the password tree.
